Summer season
High Mountain :
From Clot refuge, you will access the Vignemale massif (3298m) and all its famous ways via Gaube valley and also you will climb up to the peaks of Marcadau valley: the great Fache (3005m), Cambalés peak (2965m) or the great Arratille peak (2900m).
Don’t forget that high mountain access requires an appropriate experience of the environment or to be accompanied by a mountain professional.
Fauna and flora discovery: several days a week during school holidays, the National Park of the Pyrenees organises a meeting point to inform hikers and walkers about the natural environment but also about discovery excursions accompanied by a park ranger.

Climbing :
The refuge is in the core of the climbing routes of Pont d'Espagne. Numerous equipped routes from the initiation level to the 7C level (trip summary available at the refuge); various areas of blocks.
Fishing :
Marcadau River, rich in trout, runs beside the refuge, no-kill circuit at Cayan plateau. Numerous lakes in the valley.
Winter season :
The ski station of Pont d’Espagne :
Cross-mountain skiing, alpine skiing, snowshoe hiking and sledge
The Clot refuge hut is located at the very heart of the ski station of Pont d’Espagne, the Mecca of cross-country skiing, of snowshoe hiking, of alpine skiing for beginners and of sledge.

- 36,5 km of cross-country skiing trails (5 circuits) of forests and plateaux.
- 6 km of marked paths (for walkers and snowshoe hiking).
- 4 alpine skiing slopes (1 red, 1 blue and 2 green) served by 1 chairlift and 2 T-bar lifts
- toboggan runs are totally featured to have fun safely

Snowshoe hiking :
Departing from Pont d'Espagne, you will joint Lake Gaube or Marcadau and even discover higher the beauties of the winter mountain. Don’t forget to get weather forecast information and to choose always hikes according to your level. To discover better the mountain totally safely, don’t hesitate to rent the services of a guide (see links).
Cross-country skiing :
The Clot Hut is the perfect departure point for any winter cross-country skiing towards Marcadau valley. Demanding and exalting sport, cross-country skiing is the better means to access high mountains in winter. If you are discovering this sport, be accompanied by an experienced mountain dweller or a guide, for a total safe practice.
